Description
I took this picture in Botswana. What a cute and ferocious little bird! We were lazily floating along the waters of the Okavango Delta in Botswana and he (or his brother) kept pace with us, darting into the river for a fishy morsel regularly. The malachite kingfisher (Corythornis cristatus) is a river kingfisher, widely distributed in Africa south of the Sahara. This is a small kingfisher (5.1 inches in length).
